Website Design
Original website concept and design by Ted Shevlin, EN '02, GAS '04. He graduated with honors from Tufts University, earning a BS in computer science in 2002. In 2004, he earned his MS degree, also in computer science, and also from Tufts University. In addition to designing the TSO website, he also served as a recording engineer on some TSO projects. Ted was a trumpet player in the Tufts Symphony Orchestra from 1999 - 2004, and also served as co-president of the TSO from 2000 - 2001, co-publicist from 2002 - 2003, and webmaster from 2003 - 2004.

Logo Design
TSO logo design by free-lance artist Holly Roomiani, '04. Holly was the girlfriend of Aaron Weinstein, LA '04, a bass player in the Tufts Symphony Orchestra. A very talented and generous artist, Holly accepted no compensation for her work. She also served as an unofficial publicist for the TSO, on occasion designing invitations and posters for numerous concerts. Additionally, she designed this image, pro-bono, for the TSO, which has appeared on the backs of TSO's t-shirts:

The TSO owes Holly a great debt for her tremendous work.

A Note About This Website
This website exists thanks to the generous donations of TSO patrons. While the original work on the website was done at no cost, the name "tuftssymphony.org" and the space in which this website sits on the Web costs money. While the TSO receives part of its funding from the Tufts Music Department, university policy forbids the department from funding an independent website. Consequently, the TSO must rely on donor funds to keep the site running.

A website such as this is important to the identity of our organization, as it provides many necessary services that are unattainable through Tufts, such as the ability to update the site in realtime without an authorized Tufts employee as a middle-man, mailing lists, database access, Unix hosting, and the PHP scripting on which this website runs. It also provides many unnecessary things which are just as useful, such as the name tuftssymphony.org, extra e-mail addresses, and space for additional multimedia, all things important for promoting the TSO.

The TSO has a strong need to increase its audience and membership, and to that end, we perform in Boston's Faneuil Hall, tour, create recordings, and even host other orchestras. That need is also one of the main reasons we created this website. If you would like to help the TSO reach its goals, please consider making a donation to the Tufts Symphony Orchestra.

If you would be interested in making a donation to the Tufts Symphony Orchestra, you may do so at any Tufts Symphony Orchestra performance. If you are considering making a larger donation, please contact the TSO.

We greatly appreciate your consideration, generosity, and patronage. Thank you.
